I’ve been busy…

Well, it’s a helluva way to clear the calendar and disappear from view, but breaking a leg will do it.
On January 5th I slipped on the ice and broke both the tibia and fibula in my left leg. I was on my way out of the house to work, carrying too much, thinking about where I was heading instead of where I was putting my feet. Laptops and lunchbag went flying, but I held on to my coffee and purse (with cellphone). The EMTs arrived in less than 7 minutes and whisked me off to the local hospital.
After surgery (18 pins and 2 plates) I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and rehab. I’m home now but cannot put any weight on the leg, so am hampered a bit in getting around. What an adventure!
More than one silver lining: I was home in time to watch all the inauguration festivities on TV. My church community and neighbors have been fantastic in offering meals, errand-running, and general emotional support. I am SO grateful to them all, and cannot imagine the challenge if I did not have those community connections.
I’m just getting back in the online saddle and will be posting more frequently. I’m glad to be back.
